The 12th Sri Lanka Economics Research Conference (SLERC) of the Sri Lanka Forum of University Economists reached its culmination on 22-12-2023, at the Main Auditorium of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL). Organized by the Department of Economics and Statistics, Faculty of Arts and Culture, and Business Economics Unit, Faculty of Management and Commerce, the conference aimed to facilitate academic exchange and collaboration in the field of economics.

Under the chairmanship of Prof. MM Fazil, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Culture, and guided by Prof. AMM Mustafa, Chair of the Sri Lanka Forum of University Economists – 2023, the conference welcomed distinguished participants and contributors. Notable figures included Professor A. Rameez, Vice Chancellor of SEUSL, who served as the chief guest, and Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, Vice Chancellor of General John Kotelawela Defense University, who graced the event as the guest of honor.

Eng. Seenithambi Mohanarajah, Retired Director General of Irrigation, Sri Lanka, delivered an insightful keynote address, setting the tone for the conference. A panel discussion on “Local Capacity Building for National Sustainable Development” engaged participants in a thought-provoking dialogue, fostering an exchange of ideas and perspectives.

The conference featured technical sessions, including a workshop on "Advanced Excel Tips & Tricks to Work Smart," and the 48th Meeting of Sri Lanka Forum of University Economists. These sessions provided a platform for researchers, scholars, and experts to share innovative findings and discuss pressing economic issues.

Dr. AAM. Nufile, Conference Secretary, expressed gratitude to participants, sponsors, and organizers, highlighting their crucial role in the success of the event. Networking opportunities were plentiful during breaks, lunch, and a sightseeing tour of SEUSL Beach, enhancing collaboration and fostering new connections among attendees.
